Meet Annie, a fierce athlete with fair skin and red hair who has always shied away from creams and lotions. Yet, sunscreen was a necessity she couldn't ignore. Facing the constant battle against sunburn, Annie struggled to find a product that could keep up with her active lifestyle without causing the uncomfortable burning sensation when sunscreen would run into her eyes during vigorous exercise or swimming. Often, she found herself weighing the risks, choosing between sun safety and comfort during crucial moments in her training.
As a new mother, Annie's search expanded to include products that were safe and gentle for her family. This inspired the mission to create a sunscreen that truly understands the needs of athletes and active individuals, offering reliable protection without compromising on comfort or performance.
Helga Hermannsdottir
Helga Sigrún Hermannsdóttir developed a keen interest in science during her early adolescent years, which evolved into a focus on chemistry in her teenage years. She pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iceland, followed by a Master's of Engineering degree in Applied Chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark.
Dedicated to making a tangible impact in the cosmetics industry, Helga is actively researching novel mineral sunscreen formulations today. Her work aims to overcome the challenges of mineral sunscreens, such as the visible white cast they often leave, by developing formulations that offer enhanced transparency.

Katrin Davidsdottir
For Katrín, training for the CrossFit Games is more than just a competition; it’s a passion that fuels her every day. As her workouts expanded to include ocean swims and endurance training, she faced a new challenge: the intense sun of summer training. With fair skin, sunburn was a constant worry, and despite her best efforts with sunscreen, irritation was inevitable—especially when sweat stung her eyes during critical moments.
The turning point came during a pivotal event at the CrossFit Games, where the need for reliable sun protection was urgent. Faced with the choice to skip facial sunscreen and risk irritation, Katrín realized there was a significant gap in the market for active individuals like her. In conversations with Annie, they discovered they shared the same struggles, driven by a mutual desire for effective, safe, and transparent skincare. This shared experience ignited the vision for Dóttir Skin, a brand dedicated to empowering athletes and ensuring everyone can train with confidence under the sun.
